So, yesterday, I bought a cheap bag of Vanilla Wafers, wrote a letter and sang a song for my father.
It was good. It was very good.
I will be abroad during the anniversaries of my sister and mother. I'm sure I'll find a good enough pastry in Europe for both of them. I'll write a letter, I'll sing a song that they both loved.
I've started the healing and it is good.
Today is a knitting day, a booking day and a Learning German day.
Last night was an interesting event. San Jose has First Fridays on First street downtown and a local opera singer started a fun little opportunity to sing opera in a small cafe and it is called "First Street Opera". An opportunity for established singers to sing for the general public. I meant to sign up for this month, but didn't at the last minute. It wasn't a big deal to me. My vocal coach dropped seeds about how I should sing, and didn't know at the time that he was actually trying to get me to sing that night. Apparently one of the singers who signed up for the evening dropped out. So, they were already at the venue supporting another of the students in his studio and BEGGED me to come down and sing.
I ended up singing 3 arias, 2 of which I had never sung in public before, and tore. it. UP! It was a wonderful night, I felt great, and it felt great to sing those songs out in the public. I'm an opera singer too! So cool.
